Orissa Online Bill Payment and process To Get Duplicate Bill
The administrative body which looks after the power generation, power transmission, electricity meters, electricity bills, etc. in the state of Orissa is named the Central Electricity Supply Utility of Orissa (CESU). It caters the rapid growing need of electricity in the state and distributes electricity to more than 18 lakh consumers in the state.
It not only provides electricity to the urban towns and cities, but also a large number of villages are covered and electricity is transmitted there. According to sources of CESU, around 11,600 villages are having electric power supply. The total number of employees working under the state electricity board is approximately 8070. The entire state is divided into Circles, Divisions, Sub- Divisions and Sections so as to efficiently provide the power generation and transmission works.
The consumers are catered well by addressing to their grievances, quick response to power failure complains, safe transmission of electricity, fraud- free billing system and easy bill payment options. There are five Customer Grievance Redresal Forum operating throughout the state. It also emphasizes in using the renewable sources of energy in the state. In addition to thermal power plants, several solar projects, hydro electricity power plants, wind mills, etc. is operating to increase the use of natural renewable sources of energy to keep the environment safe and pollution free.
The electricity billing system has been merged to the E- Governance website of the state of Orissa called Odisha Online. The main motto for this linkage is to make the services, provided by the govt. to the people, faster, efficient and user friendly. In addition to electric bills, people can also view and pay water bills, house and land tax bills, trade license, etc. All services are brought under one roof and is just a click away. This is the main concept of e- governance.
To pay the current electricity bill of CESU, consumer have to either visit the payment cash counters of the CESU and pay there in cash. Or they can also pay it online, through a user friendly bill payment portal and do not have to stand in queue to pay the bills. To view the latest electricity bill for the current month, the consumer will have to visit the link: https://www.odishaonline.gov.in/Site/Common_Quick_Pay.aspx.
Choose ‘ELECTRICITY BILL (CESU)’ from the options given. Select the division under which your electric meter falls. Then enter the Consumer Number which a 8 digit number provided during installment of electric meter or it is also printed on the hard copy of the electricity bill. Then enter your mobile number or telephone number registered with the connection. After that you will have to put your registered email id and lastly a string displayed on the screen shall be typed in the last box exactly as it is. On clicking SUBMIT button, the current electricity bill will open up which can be paid online. For online payment, one will need a Debit/ Credit card to make the due payment. Also one can opt for Internet banking. After successful completion of payment, a transaction slip will be generated.
